New Era

Saying good-bye to the old server hardware that was hosting the “demo1” Photostovis server, here on the left:

NewServer

It was a small PC, Intel Atom, 1 GB of RAM with an external USB hard-drive.

It is now replaced by a new, lets call it PC, the one you see on the right: the “official” Photostovis hardware, an ARM-based single board computer with a SATA-based hard-drive, all inside the nice enclosure you see in the picture.

Why the change? Because it was time. The small PC was hosting the Photostovis demo long time before what you can see on the right became the “official” hardware, actually few months before I even tried to run Photostovis on it. And during the last 10 months or so, while anybody who bought or previewed Photostovis received a CubieTruck box, it did bother me that the “official” demo was running on a different hardware than what a customer would get.

Well, not anymore. The official Photostovis demo at:

https://photostovis.net/demo1

is hosted precisely by the small ARM-based computer that you see in the picture, sitting quietly in a house in Tampere/Finland, under the stairs, just like Harry Potter.

    • No. The external USB HDD connected to the old server has 1TB. The new server has an internal HDD, and its capacity is also 1TB.
